Students of Humanities Department have visited a play staged by at Kalmyk National Drama Theater named after B.Basangov. The visit was arranged by English language tutor of Germanic Philology Chair Basanova Tatiana Vladimirovna. The play “The Comedy of Errors” has been greatly enjoyed by the students.In the following reviews the students share their impressions.

Recently I had a chance to watch a play called “The Comedy of Errors”, which was staged at the B.Basangov Kalmyk National Drama Theater, and was directed by director Pavel Pronin. The play premiered in 2017 and is still of great interest to the general public.
The original plot is taken from the work of the world famous writer William Shakespeare. In the center of the narrative is the live story of two pairs of twins separated in early childhood. The story takes place in Greece, in the city of Ephesus, in which, by the will of fate, the twins Antifolus of Syracuse and Antifolus of Ephesus and their servants, who, as well as the owners, are twin brothers, find themselves. Throughout the entire performance, they cannot meet in any way, but they pretty much confuse others who do not distinguish between twins. In the end , after great experiences and serious troubles, the long-awaited meeting of not only the twins, but also their parents takes place, family reunion takes place.
There are certain upsides in the play. Firstly, I was surprised by the cast’s acting skills, they managed to convey the character of their heroes as much as possible. I was especially struck by the play of the actor OchirTakaev, who played in the play Dromio of Syracuse. OchirTakaev was able to show the character of his hero so emotionally and expressively, from the actions of the actor on the stage, I constantly burst into laughter. Secondly, there are peculiar features in the production of the play. For example, in the performance, national costumes were used, moreover the audience immersion technique is used. Thirdly, it is necessary to note the work of the lighting designer – A.V.Vankayev, the decorator – A.N.Dyakiev. All these people worked to create the necessary atmosphere and the correct idea of the performance.
Now let’s list some of the downsides of the performance. First, there were moments when some of the actors forgot the words. Secondly, there was a lack of scenery, if the number of scenery were more extensive, than it would be easier for viewers to follow the development of the plot and switch between scenes.
Overall, I really liked this performance and I was able to feel a huge range of emotions. I highly recommend visiting the B.Basangov Kalmyk National Drama Theater and especially to see this performance, if you are a fan of poetry, because the play is conducted in poetic form.

Recently I have visited the play «The comedy of Errors» staged at the Kalmyk National Theater by Pavel Pronin. This production is based on the comedy by William Shakespeare. In the center of the story is a description of the life of two twins who were separated in childhood. The plot is quite widely known, so I will not go into details. The focus of the story is on issues such as family values and loyalty friendship.
There are evident advantages that are worth manhgement. Firstly, I was amazed by the cast’s acting skills which made the performance very dynamic and made spectators laugh. The actors managed to fully convey the characters of their roles, and I especially remember the character of ChingizTepkenkiev, who played Antipholus of Ephesus. He succeeds in conveying the confusion, misunderstanding and indignation of his character. Secondly, elements of immersive theatre are used in the play to switch the viewers from passive observer to participants.
As for the downsides, there was not enough scenery for such a large number of actors. If there were more scenery, it would be easier for a viewer to switch from one situation to another.
In conclusion, I want to note that I recommend it if you are a poetry lover as dialogues are in poetic form. I believe that visiting this performance is a good idea to spend time with family or with friends. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
